For practitioners who only dabble in tax matters-and seasoned SALT- practitioners-everyone wants to know what New York State and City tax issues have tripped up others and what new issues may arise from the recent federal tax changes. This program will delve into some of the New York State and City tax "gotchas" arising under the following taxes: New York State Real Estate Transfer Tax, New York City Real Property Transfer Tax, New York City Unincorporated Business Tax, New York City Commercial Rent Tax, the New York State and City corporate income taxes and the New York State and City sales tax, and will consider some potential new traps created by federal tax reform. Some of the issues that will be discussed include: nexus, buying and selling businesses, relocating your business out of state, and responsible party obligations. The grief you will save your clients (and yourself) is well-worth the price of admission.
