Agents and managers touch virtually every aspect of the US entertainment industry, but what do they actually do? And where do attorneys fit in? This course will explain the sometimes distinct, sometimes overlapping roles that attorneys, agents and managers play in music, film, television, publishing and the like. And it will explore the regulatory structures in New York, California and elsewhere that shape what each profession can do. We'll end by focusing on everyday ethical dilemmas facing attorneys and others who represent artists and who may play multiple roles in their clients' professional lives.
