This program will explore the effects of short term rentals in general and the sharing economy in particular upon real estate. The program will address the legal, regulatory and policy frameworks within which to evaluate the issues relating to short term rentals, including the restrictions under rental and co-op leases, condominium bylaws, and existing major affordable housing programs, as well as the enforcement difficulties faced by landlords, co-op and condo boards. The program will also consider the impact of short term rentals on apartment dwellers, including co-op and condominium owners, and the availability of affordable housing.
