This program will cover in depth the recent significant Federal and New York tax law changes affecting estate planning and trusts, including the proposed regulations under IRC Section 2704 and their drastic impact on valuation discounts in family-controlled entities, Federal basis consistency rules, basis step-up vs. credit shelter planning, donating to charity to avoid the New York estate tax cliff, and allocation of estate administration expenses. The program will include a panel discussion addressing how practitioners are advising their clients in the aftermath of these changes.
