Virtual reality is all around us. Headsets such as the Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive have hit the consumer market, while YouTube has joined emergent platforms such as Littlstar in making immersive 360º VR video content accessible to anyone with a smartphone and piece of cardboard. Established giants like the New York Times have jumped in with both feet and are regularly releasing high-quality VR content. The growth and development of VR has been so rapid that many are still left wondering: what exactly is virtual reality? Whether you have never heard of VR or are an attorney beginning to take on clients in the field, this CLE will seek to provide a comprehensive introduction to the new and fascinating field of virtual reality and its attendant legal issues including intellectual property, right of publicity, products liability, and more.
