Description:
Throughout the last few years, restorative trainings and services have been in increased demand as New Yorkers are torn apart by violence in their communities and overseas, as well as heightened political divides. The New York City Bar and New York Peace Institute are excited to introduce you to these practices.
This event, facilitated by New York Peace Institute, will introduce participants to restorative processes as a means of building community, navigating conflict, and responding to incidents of harm.
Attendees will learn about how ADR processes, and more specifically restorative practices, can be useful tools to engage those in conflict in conversation and support communication across divides by eliciting discussion, building trust, and shifting power dynamics that typically adversely affect communities of color and other marginalized groups. During the event, participants will have an opportunity to sit in a Community Building Circle and experience the power of the process. This event may also help participants gain an understanding of how these processes can help their clients, and their practice overall.
