Chinese Energy and Infrastructure Projects in Emerging Markets: Examining Trends in Africa

Description: 
Chinese state and private sector companies are investing in emerging markets across various sectors, including energy, transportation, real estate and manufacturing. The scale of these projects within Africa are impacting the economic development of the continent, particularly in regards to energy and infrastructure. The investments differ from country to country and between state and private companies, as well as from U.S. and European investment, there is no single Chinese story within a continent of over 50 countries. Join the NYC Bar Association in conjunction with the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice as we examine trends in Africa with Chinese energy and infrastructure projects in emerging markets. The Vance Center’s Power Africa and African Legal Fellows will provide an overview of major transactions in South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria, followed by a panel discussion among Chinese and Nigerian lawyers on the practical issues that arise in these large scale investment projects.
