Kemi Adetiba is a successful filmmaker, music video director, and television director. Her work has appeared on Soundicity TV, BET, Netflix and other outlets. Her movies available on Netflix include The Wedding Party (2016), King of Boys (2018), King of Boys: The Return of the King (2021). Akin Salami is a media mogul and visionary entrepreneur who has created during the last 12 years multiple business across a wide range of sectors in both Nigeria and the UK, including banking, technology, aviation, and broadcast media. His latest project is producing The Voice Nigeria Season 3, a music reality TV show in Nigeria, which is broadcast by his television company, FAME TV. The film and music business in Nigeria have grown significantly in recent years and is now one of the most important media sectors in the world. Commonly referred to as “Nollywood”, Nigeria’s film industry is now the second most prolific in the world, representing 3.6 billion USD in 2016 and projected to be valued at USD 6.4 billion by 2021. Nigeria’s music sector is projected to grow to 44 million USD by 2023. The entertainment industry in Nigeria is expected to create sustainable employment opportunities for young people and increase Nigeria’s revenue base. Adetiba and Salami will discuss the entertainment industry in Nigeria, and their predictions for future. The City Bar will display Adetiba and Salami’s work during this presentation. While the event will be on Zoom and in-person, Adetiba and Salami will present via Zoom.
