Description:
Speakers in this program will address thorny ethical issues that have arisen in the context of scare resources during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the challenges presented by the absence of uniform statewide ethics guidelines. The 2015 Ventilator Guidelines of the New York State Task Force on Life and the Law will be addressed, and the various contested grounds for making triage decisions including age, disabilities and long-term survival. Immunities for providers and triage committee members will also be discussed, and the limits of such immunities.
