Description:
Civic education is vitally important for the next generation, and you can help. Through the City Bar’s Civic Corps, volunteers have been working with New York City students to prepare them to understand, and participate effectively in, our democracy. We’re off to a good start but much more needs to be done. Please come to our annual program to encourage volunteering to help prepare the leaders of tomorrow. We will discuss civic education efforts across the city, volunteer opportunities and first-hand accounts of the impact of civics programs on students and volunteers.
You will also have the opportunity to meet with multiple organizations that engage with New York City's students to increase their civics knowledge and activity and sign up to volunteer! Many programs require only a small commitment of time and others provide for deeper involvement. Bring your colleagues! There are opportunities for lawyers and non-lawyers.
