Description:

Last year the City Bar launched the Civic Corps, volunteers who participated through the auspices of the City Bar in civic education programs in New York City's schools. We had a strong response to our initial effort, but there is much more to be done. Civic education is sorely needed at all levels of education, to prepare students to participate effectively in our democracy and to help train the leaders of tomorrow.

At our program, panelists will discuss civic education efforts across the city, volunteer opportunities and first-hand accounts of the impact of civics programs on students and volunteers.

You will also have the opportunity to meet with multiple organizations that engage with New York City's students to increase their civics knowledge and activity and sign up to volunteer! Many programs require only a small time commitment and others provide for deeper involvement. Bring your colleagues! There are opportunities for lawyers and non-lawyers.
