Description:
The Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine marks a significant development in international criminal justice and a further step towards accountability for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. As work progresses towards its operationalization, important legal, institutional and practical questions arise concerning the Tribunal’s role within the broader international accountability architecture and its relationship with existing mechanisms. Bringing together leading international criminal law scholars, practitioners and institutional representatives, this program will explore selected issues concerning the establishment and future work of the Special Tribunal.  A moderated panel discussion will be followed by an interactive exchange among panelists and with the audience, providing an opportunity to reflect on the Tribunal’s role and its future operationalization.
