Description:
The New York City Bar Association recently commemorated its 150-year anniversary. The Energy Committee's research on New York City's energy landscape during the early years of the Association revealed some surprising history, including key roles played by the Association's founding members. This program will compare and contrast two pivotal points in New York's history with respect to energy, economics and environmental justice. The panel will discuss the legal and policy decisions that shaped the energy consumption habits of people in New York then, the decisions facing us now, and the implications of those decisions. The panel will also discuss the role of policy and technology in driving change and explore their relationship for discussion, i.e., can policy really change technology or is it the other way around?
