In early December, regulators ushered in a new era of tough banking oversight on Tuesday by approving the long-awaited Volcker Rule, one of the most contested elements of the Dodd-Frank Reform Act. The rule puts in place new hurdles for banks that buy and sell securities on behalf of clients and restrict compensation arrangements that encourage risky trading.
To find out more about the rule and its practical implications, plan to join us now on January 28th at the Regulation of Financial Services Forum 2014, when leading regulators, legal authorities and corporate counsels from the financial industry gather to examine the Volcker Rule in depth, as well as other top of mind legal issues facing the world of banking and finance.
Presented by the New York City Bar and Thomson Reuters, this one-day program is designed for lawyers and compliance professionals in financial service companies. The program focuses on the key issues of primary importance to the regulated community, looks back over the past year and ahead into the coming year, and offers practical insight into the meaning of key developments and steps companies should consider going forward.
Each panel will consist of a moderator as well as representatives from corporations, law firms and regulators. Panel topics will include:
  • The Volcker Rule, ring-fencing, minimum debt requirement
  • Enforcement and Litigation
  • OTC Derivatives Reform, Consumer Financial Protection and Mortgage Reforms
  • Capital, Liquidity and Enhanced Prudential Standards
