Talk saves lives. Suicide is a health issue that can be prevented and how we talk about it matters. This program will discuss the scope of the problem, provide vital information on who is at risk and the impact suicide can have on individuals and communities. Speakers will provide research findings indicating what the risk factors are, and the steps individuals can take to protect themselves mentally and physically. Participants will learn how a lawyer's role and responsibilities, training and working in a constantly challenging profession may contribute to an attorney's mental health. Speakers will provide information on the warning signs, and what law students, lawyers and judges can do to help themselves as well as their colleagues and clients, including, how to reach out, what to say and what not to say and when and how to seek help.

Participants will also learn about the City Bar's Lawyer Assistance Program and the resources available to lawyers, law students, judges and family members to assist them with mental health or substance use struggles and support their overall wellbeing.
