Description:
Each year, the Lawyer Assistance Committee honors an individual who has generously dedicated their time and effort to carry the message of Lawyers Helping Lawyers. The 2019 Lawyer Assistance Committee Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will recognize Hon. Sarah Krauss for her commitment to the mission of Lawyer Assistance and will feature keynote remarks from Lisa Smith, noted speaker and author of Girl Walks Out of a Bar. This year also commemorates twenty years of the New York City Bar Association’s Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP), which provides free, confidential help to legal professionals, staff, family members and colleagues who are experiencing alcohol and substance use disorders, mental health issues, and other challenges that impact their personal and professional lives.
LAP is a department of the City Bar Fund, the 501(c)(3) affiliate of the New York City Bar, and is the only full service lawyer assistance program solely dedicated to attorneys, judges, law students and their family members in New York City. At this time of critical need to improve the well-being of the legal profession, with lawyers experiencing disproportionately high rates of substance use and mental health issues, ticket proceeds will support LAP’s work providing much needed services to the legal community.
