Donations to the Lawyer Assistance Program are welcome and appreciated. As part of the charitable 501(c)(3) arm of the New York City Bar, LAP provides free, confidential help to legal professionals, staff, family members and colleagues who are experiencing alcohol and substance use disorders as well as mental health issues.

Description:
Each year, the Lawyer Assistance Committee honors an individual who has generously dedicated their time and effort to carry the message of Lawyers Helping Lawyers. The virtual 2020 Lawyer Assistance Committee Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony will recognize Max Hahn for his commitment to the mission of Lawyer Assistance. Max has helped many disbarred attorneys find recovery and get reinstated during his longtime volunteer service with the Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP).

The program will feature keynote remarks from Eilene Zimmerman, author of Smacked: A Story of White-Collar Ambition, Addiction, and Tragedy.

While there is no fee to register, donations to the Lawyer Assistance Program are encouraged. A gift of any size will be meaningful in strengthening LAP’s ability to serve the legal community, which suffers from disproportionately high rates of mental health and substance use problems and needs our support now more than ever in these challenging times of heightened stress, anxiety, uncertainty and isolation.
