Description:
Being a lawyer is stressful. Not surprisingly, there are disproportionately high rates of depression, anxiety, and substance abuse in the profession. As a new attorney it can be especially hard to balance the demands of your work and your mental health. We’ve all heard that it’s important to practice self-care to avoid burnout. But what does that really mean? In this program we cover the unique pressures of the legal field, strategies to bolster your mental health and wellbeing, and warning signs that it’s time to seek professional help. You will learn how to form healthy habits that can adapt to busy schedules so that you can continue to thrive throughout your career.

Speaker:
Penelope Fisher-Birch, LMSW, is a therapist in private practice in New York. She works with young people and adults with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Ms. Fisher-Birch practiced as an attorney before transitioning to the mental health field. She received her JD from the Cardozo School of Law and MSW from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work.
