Description:
Establishing and maintaining an Attorney Trust or IOLA bank account
should not be challenging for a law firm. This CLE program is
appropriate for any attorney, new or seasoned, who manages an Attorney
Trust or IOLA bank account. It will explore both the practical and
ethical considerations of opening and administering such an account and
will provide a broad overview of Rule 1.15, Judiciary Law § 497, UCC
Article 4 and other regulatory schemes that impact such accounts. The
program will provide practical advice from two professionals concerning
the day-to-day operations of Attorney Trust and IOLA accounts.
Deborah A. Scalise is an Ethics Attorney who practices in the NY
metropolitan area and Larry McElroen has administered Attorney Trust and
IOLA accounts on behalf of banks and their attorney customers for more
than twelve years.
