Originally held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 | 9:00 am –1:00pm
Description:
The pace of companies adopting and using promotional tools and vehicles has vastly speeded up, including sweepstakes, skill contests, and social and digital marketing, embodying the most current forms of technological changes, such as Chatbot and AI. Social media laws applying to posting, tweeting, the growing labyrinth of federal and state privacy restrictions, and Dark Patterns cases raised by the FTC are all challenging and changing the advertising, privacy, and intellectual property ecosystems and raising quite complex questions and issues for lawyers practicing in several different areas.
In this program, experts in these fields address and clarify the key issues today for marketing, advertising, and privacy practitioners, among others; topics will include:
- Laws and rules regarding sweepstakes, skill contests and other promotions on all the key platforms.
- Dark patterns and other enforcement techniques on the FTC and NAD fronts.
- CARU, COPPA, and children’s advertising - new rules and enforcement reflecting differing federal and state views on what is appropriate for children to view.
- The world of increasingly interrelated connected devices, systems, and products.
- The top technology issues for lawyers to understand and the legal ramifications thereof.
- Cause marketing, co-venturing, and state regulatory variations and concerns.
- Algorithmic bias and other legal issues in marketing and advertising.
- A new look at endorsements and consumer reviews.
