Description:
The NYCBA welcomes Brian Miller, Special Inspector General for Pandemic
Recovery (SIGPR), in conversation with Neil Barofsky, former Special
Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) and
now a partner at Jenner & Block LLP. Mr. Miller was nominated in
April 2020 to oversee the office charged with identifying and combating
fraud and waste connected to the distribution of hundreds of billions of
dollars appropriated as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and
Economic Security Act (CARES Act). Join us to learn about SIGPR's
enforcement priorities, the statutory role of the SIGPR, the SIGPR's
navigation of mission overlap with other oversight entities, and some of
the challenges of building and leading a law enforcement and oversight
agency during a time of crisis.
