Description:
In the second installment of the Sports Law Committee’s three-part
series covering the evolving legal landscape and marketplace concerning
Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights, a panel comprising former
professional and collegiate athletes will explore the novel legal
issues, opportunities, and challenges surrounding the use of a college
student-athletes’ NIL rights. The panel, featuring notable former
athletes Caitlin Hannibal, Al Leiter, and Jill Pilgrim, and moderator
Michael McCann, will share unique insights into the athlete’s
perspective on NIL rights. Attendees will hear the panelists’
perspectives on the potential impact college athletic departments and
programs will face, including impacts on recruiting, competitive
fairness, and non-revenue generating sports. Additionally, the panelists
will discuss the new opportunities NIL rights create for
student-athletes and the changing landscape affecting college athletics
as a whole.
