What's Next? Managing Career/Life Transitions
What's Next? Managing Career/Life Transitions
Thursday, May 23, 2019 | 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Program Fee: Free for Members | $15 for Non-Members
Description:
Lawyers of all ages, particularly seniors with considerable legal and business experience, must navigate career transitions throughout their professional lives. This program offers the opportunity to listen and learn from experienced professional speakers with expertise on how to traverse the challenges of redirecting one's career. They will share their insights on how to explore the multitude of options available (e.g. reduced hours, new practice areas, mentoring, travel, hobbies, government and nonprofit options) and offer step-by-step financial preparations needed to pay for the various options. The panelists will provide insights into firm perspectives on transitions such as successor planning, pensions, and the responsibilities of the organizations from which attorneys are leaving. New to the program this year will be a geriatric health professional who will discuss and explore the mental and emotional aspects of the retirement transition. Attendees will learn strategies to manage the profound changes associated with a disruption to the work routine and its impact on sleep and eating patterns, family and other social relationships and loss of a sense of purpose. Join us to learn how to map out a lifelong career strategy to prepare for the inevitable career transitions.
