Description:
Baby boomers can expect to live thirty years longer compared to earlier generations. Today’s complex legal landscape has complicated succession planning and the retirement transition for lawyers. This panel is designed to help practitioners and law firm leadership unpack the personal, societal, and industry assumptions, thoughts, and emotions around aging and retirement in order to develop effective transition plans that meet the seemingly competing needs of all the parties.

Our experienced panelists will share their insights on how to explore the multitude of options available (e.g. reduced hours, new practice areas, mentoring, travel, hobbies, government and nonprofit options) and offer step-by-step financial preparations needed to pay for the various options. They will explore the physical, mental and emotional aspects of aging and retirement and provide insights into firm perspectives on successor planning, pensions, etc. Whether you are a law firm partner, associate or practitioner approaching retirement, join us for a lively discussion to expand your world view of this sensitive topic.  Armed with a greater understanding of the issue from various viewpoints, everyone will be better equipped to navigate this unavoidable transition with enthusiasm and excitement.
