The re-emergence of the #BlackLivesMatter movement after the death of George Floyd has had a profound effect on the criminal justice system, alternatives to incarceration, and how best to support a successful reentry from incarceration. Join us as JoAnne Page, President of The Fortune Society, discusses how the issues of re-entry into society after jail or prison are deeply connected to the reform of police departments and other calls for criminal justice reform, on both a value-based but also on a strategic level.  She will describe the challenges that people reentering the community after incarceration face in an environment of increasing need and diminishing resources during the COVID pandemic that is hitting hardest the low income communities of color that disproportionately bear the burden of crime and of the criminal justice system.  She will also speak about the importance of supporting change within jails and prison, and the current opportunities for system change.
