Description:

This program is designed to inform and guide lawyers as they enter various professional transitions. The panel will discuss different aspects of varying transitions including transitioning from one field of law to another; to a solo practice; or to outside the practice of law.  The program will focus on the issues facing small law firm or a solo-attorneys particularly those winding up a practice including, how to arrange for the retention of living documents (such as wills, trusts, and guardianships) and what retention may be required of old files. Some of the questions the panel will address include: What are the specific ethical requirements for retiring attorneys? How are electronic documents to be protected and what are the rules covering cyber security? What are the social and psychological considerations of a transition?
