Description:
Attorneys in family and matrimonial law assist individuals with a wide array of issues from divorce and ancillary financial issues, child custody, child support, pre and postnuptial agreements, paternity, domestic violence issues, guardianship and more. Matrimonial and family law was one of the areas with the highest rate of growth this past year, as there was a significant rise in individuals interested in divorce and other family law related issues. Matrimonial and family law attorneys are both litigators and negotiators, but also often find themselves wearing the hat of counselor/therapist, as the clients are often times going through a very difficult and emotional time in their lives. This niche practice is often associated with small firm practice, but attorneys in this area also practice at large firms as well as non-profits.
