Description:
This CLE Webinar will provide an overview of how to successfully argue a
case in court and will discuss best practices for effective oral
arguments in U.S. courts, from preparation to presentation to
perception. The panelists will consider the roles of written
submissions, such as briefs or motions, in determining how to frame an
oral argument to a judge or panel of judges, the prudence of
understanding your audience in advance, how to anticipate and account
for “hot” and “cold” benches, and “do’s” and “don’ts” of making your
case within a limited allotment of time, including how to argue your
facts without merely reciting them. This webinar will uniquely offer
the perspectives of a former U.S. Magistrate Judge with 20+ years of
experience hearing oral arguments, as well as a seasoned appellate
litigator who has argued 15+ cases in various U.S. courts of appeals.
