Description:
Every relationship has power dynamics, often existing across race- or gender-based differences. Is the power you exert as an attorney dominating or empowering others? Hierarchical environments (particularly in law firms and courtrooms) driven by dominant power dynamics are commonly not inclusive. This may be especially true in legal environment dynamics (e.g., in law firms and courtrooms) where people may feel unheard or uncomfortable sharing their experiences, sensitivities, and points of view.
In this workshop, participants will be guided to understand power dynamics in the legal profession, encouraged to explore how to diffuse them, and ultimately create legal workplace environments that can evolve past the unhelpful complexities that power dynamics create.
