Description:
We will discuss different legal paradigms for sex work, including full criminalization, legalization, decriminalization, and prohibitionist models such as the Nordic model and Equality model. Additionally, we will discuss both federal and New York laws that criminalize sex work and their constitutional implications. Finally, we will discuss proposed legislation that impacts the sex trades. As the criminalization of sex work disproportionately impacts LGBTQ+ young people, Black and brown people, and immigrants, the focus of this panel will be on how these communities interact with existing laws and proposed policies.
