Description:
Not a criminal defense attorney? Come learn the basics of New York City criminal law practice. This CLE will serve as a basic introduction to the criminal law and procedure most frequently encountered during the path of a case in NYC Criminal Courts. Panelists from a variety of backgrounds will address topics from the inception of a case (arrest, arraignment, and bail) to court appearances (plea negotiations, discovery review), to litigation (hearings and trial). At the end of the CLE, attendees will have a basic understanding not only of the standard stages of a criminal court case, but also how the Criminal Courts in NYC really function, as one of the busiest court systems in the country.
