Description:
In recent years, we have seen significant focus by investors and regulators on the responsibility of corporations and their boards to address evolving environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) priorities and risks. The COVID-19 crisis, and renewed calls for social reforms, have put ESG policies in even sharper relief. Against this background, the insurance industry plays a unique and vital role.
Increasingly, insurers are being asked to evaluate the impact of their portfolio investments to encourage sustainability of the world’s population, as well as the impact of their human capital investments to encourage sustainability of the industry. But insurers also are in the risk business, and insurers are developing new products to respond to emerging risks in a world where ESG considerations have greater importance. These considerations are prompting scrutiny from regulators and rating agencies on ways that insurance capital should be directed.
In this first program of its kind at the Association, we will bring together legal, risk and investment professionals to explore the integration of ESG considerations in the insurance industry. A panel of experts drawn from both sides of the ESG debate will discuss commercial and regulatory developments. Join us to learn more about how the special drivers for ESG initiatives in the insurance industry provide a road map for post COVID-19 recovery.
