Description:
This program will provide an overview of key issues and guidelines for users and developers of AI powered technologies; you will learn about:
• The AI Technology Landscape - the current state of AI technology and different types AI - not just LLMS; features, limitations and risks in applications; the developing marketplace
• The Evolving Regulatory Landscape - principles of regulation of AI; the EU AI Act; the US approach - White House Executive Order on AI, NIST guidance, developments at state level
• The Legal Challenges - pending IP litigations in the US and what we are learning about potential IP liabilities for AI providers and users; limitations on IP protection for AI generated content
• Key Issues for Users of AI: key negotiation points in a license or Saas agreement, including warranties; sharing of user information with providers; limitations of liability, etc. The importance of internal governance framework to minimize potential risks and comply with applicable legal/regulatory requirements
• Key Issues for Developers/Providers of AI: good development practices that would enable providers to meet evolving regulations and guidelines, as well as use/deployer expectations in due diligence, including e.g. transparency, provenance of training data sets, and testing
• Who Should Attend: Private practitioners and in house counsel, in all areas of practice

This program is free to Members who are Law Students, Recent Law Graduates, Newly Admitted Lawyers (admitted for the first time in 2022-2024), In-House Counsel, Judges, or Attorneys in Government, Academic or Not-for-Profit sectors.
For New York Attorneys: Newly admitted attorneys (those admitted to the New York State Bar for two years or less) may participate in Skills CLE courses in live, nontraditional formats, where questions are allowed during the program (through December 31, 2024 per recent guidance of the CLE Board – for more information, click here).
