Description:
This program will provide an in-depth analysis of the major requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and the Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) as they apply today in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York. Among other topics, panelists will discuss the primary obligations on employers under the laws, interactions between OSHA and federal and state anti-discrimination laws, interactions between the WARN Act and New York’s executive orders, differences between the New York and federal WARN Acts, specific notice requirements under the WARN Act, and employees’ rights and remedies under both laws. The panelists will consider each law from the different perspectives of government enforcement, management compliance, and employees’ rights.
