Not-for-Profit Law Institute 2025

Friday, March 21, 2025 | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Format: IN-PERSON

Description:

This year’s annual institute focuses on current legal issues nonprofits are facing amidst political, societal, and regulatory changes at the federal and state level. The daylong program features panels on how nonprofits can ensure state regulatory compliance and navigate fundraising issues in uncertain times. Our expert speakers will also discuss how the reversal of Chevron deference is likely to impact nonprofit operations and provide an overview of recent employment law developments. As in past years, the Institute includes an update on enforcement priorities and developments from the Internal Revenue Service and the Charities Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office. The day concludes with a helpful ethics session focused on attorney-client privilege. This comprehensive program will provide a practical grounding and tools for nonprofits and practitioners as they work through expected and unexpected turbulence in the sector.

Who Should Attend: This full-day program is intended to serve in-house and outside counsel with a well-developed background in nonprofit law, but it will also be a useful and informative session for not-for-profit organizational managers as well as lawyers who focus on other sectors and seek to enhance their early practice in the not-for-profit field.
