Over the past few decades, mediation has become ingrained into our legal culture. Attorneys in all areas -- bankruptcy, family, commercial, criminal -- are likely to find themselves engaging with some form of mediation. The field's growth has created new opportunities for conflict resolution experts in governments, schools, non-profit organizations and private firms. How exactly can one become a mediator, or incorporate mediation into a larger practice? This panel of dispute resolution professionals will share their own career paths and give recommendations for education, training, and experience. The speakers will show how interested attorneys can have careers in mediation, or at the very least, have some mediation in their careers.

Moderator: Brian Farkas, Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP

Speakers: Simeon H. Baum, President, Resolve Mediation Services; Hon. Melanie L. Cyganowsky (Ret.), Otterbourg P.C. and Former Chief Bankruptcy Judge, Eastern District of New York; Antoinette Delruelle, Coordinating Attorney of the Mediation Project, New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG); Robert D. Steele, Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP
