Globalization, international trade, and the growth of multinational law firms have resulted in an increased enrollment in LL.M. programs at law schools throughout the U.S. However, international attorneys may face a number of challenges as they seek employment in the U.S. legal market in the private or public sector. This panel will discuss the hiring process and job opportunities for L.L.M. and Foreign Lawyers in the U.S. and provide important information and advice on (1) how to draft an effective resume that highlights one's unique skills and experience ; (2) what to expect at an interview and how to prepare; (3) how to network and search for job opportunities; (4) where those job opportunities may be, including the "hidden market"; and (5) what recruiters and HR staff look for and how an LLM Attorney can position herself to get hired.
