Using the neuroscience of decision making as a starting point, this interactive workshop employs mindfulness strategies and practices derived from the martial arts of aikido and tai chi and explores their relevance and importance for judges and lawyers in their professional and personal contexts. Participants will learn and practice concrete takeaway techniques and a simplified tai chi form for stress management, conflict resolution, and wellness in the workplace.

Speakers: Raymond E. Kramer, Director, Administrative Judicial Institute, New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH); experienced mediator and an adjunct clinical professor of law at New York University Law School, where he co-teaches the Mediation and Advanced Mediation-Dispute System Design Clinics.
Charles Colten, Director and Chief Instructor, Aikido in the Schools, which is committed to bringing the benefits of Aikido, Tai chi and Qi Qong practices into public and private schools. For the past four years, Colten has also shared his work with the judicial community at city, state, and federal levels.
