This three-hour program is designed to educate attorneys about the evolution of affordable housing in NYC, including the development and implementation of in-rem and urban renewal programs and policies, the expansion of these approaches over time, the origins of the third party transfer program, and the progression of the financing of affordable housing through the present. Current and former NYC housing commissioners, along with seasoned practitioners in government and the private sector, will discuss the City’s role in developing and preserving affordable housing and in creating and administering various loan and land disposition programs. Housing practitioners will gain perspective and insight into the statutory considerations of how community revitalization initiatives have evolved over time.
