Description:
Looking to gain a more in-depth understanding of how health insurance works, particularly in the context of the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”)? This program will include a summary of the main requirements of the ACA including the cornerstones of employer shared responsibility, premium subsidies, individual mandate and the elimination of pre-existing condition exclusions.  Topics will include the significance of having an insured vs. a self-insured plan under ERISA; the effect of elimination of the individual mandate in 2019 on employer health plans and premiums for insurance purchased on the Marketplace; the effect of the elimination of the cost sharing reduction payments on insurers and premiums and the effect on premiums of allowing short-term insurance for up to 364 days.
