The Opioid Crisis: Legal Pathways to Recovery
Wednesday, May 23, 2018 | 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Program Fee: Free for Members | $10 for Non-Members

Description:
Join us for a discussion about the opioid crisis in America. The program will address legal, political, and clinical approaches to combating the crisis. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more Americans died in 2016 from fatal overdoses than in the entire Vietnam War. How has the changing face of the crisis reframed the conversation on drug use? What new (or old) tools are available to tackle the problems presented by this epidemic? What still needs to change? Learn about treatment access issues, creation of supervised injection facilities (SIFs), medication-assisted treatment, changes in prescribing practices, ongoing litigation against opioid manufacturers and distributors, as well as other ways to help people affected by opioids.
