Description
The white collar enforcement landscape has transformed dramatically in the last fifteen years, both in the United States and around the world. Anti-corruption and other white collar enforcement are no longer confined to a handful of jurisdictions, and extraterritorial reach is no longer an exclusively American concept. The globalization of white collar enforcement has introduced new challenges for companies and counsel alike, particularly in conducting internal investigations, engaging with multiple enforcement authorities, and negotiating cross-border settlements. At the same time, implementing and maintaining risk-based compliance programs has become increasingly important for companies, especially given the rapid pace of technological and operational change.
Expert panels will address:
- Global enforcement trends;
- Anti-corruption developments;
- Counter-terrorism enforcement involving drug cartels;
- Other cross-border enforcement priorities; and
- AI innovations in compliance and investigations
This conference marks a unique collaboration between the New York City Bar Association and the International Bar Association, providing an interactive gathering of lawyers based in the United States and from around the globe. Participants will tackle challenging questions posed by the reality of enforcement authorities not always on the same page or, in some cases, reading from the same book. The symposium also will address cross-border compliance challenges and strategies for effectively addressing them.
Kickoff Reception:
The program begins with a Networking Reception and Fireside Chat featuring Emma Luxton, Director of Operations for the UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO). In conversation with Albert (BJ) Stieglitz, Ms. Luxton will discuss topics including relevant legal developments, recent enforcement initiatives, evolving priorities, and coordination with domestic and international authorities.
