Comparing the Treatment of Islamic Law Issues in European and US Courts

Description:
In recent years, Europe, particularly Germany, has experienced a large inflow of Muslim refugees from Syria and elsewhere in the Middle East, adding to an already substantial Muslim population from Turkey. This population shift brings with them a myriad of Islamic law issues in areas such as family law, estates, contracts and business. The event will provide a comparison of how Islamic law issues are treated in European and American courts.

Abed Awad, American lawyer specializing in Sharia law
Jad Nader, Head of Luxembourg Desk, Nauta Dutilh, specializes in Islamic finance
