The First Amendment in an Age of Terror
Tuesday, December 10, 2013
6:30pm - 8:00pm
There is no charge for this program.

The U.S. government’s aggressive efforts in recent years to prosecute those who disclose classified information has sparked the debate over whether the government is properly protecting information that is critical to our national security or is chilling the First Amendment’s ability to promote the free exchange of ideas and serve as a check on government wrongdoing. This program will debate issues relating to leaks and whistleblowers, government surveillance, and the role of the press within the context of the continuing struggle against terrorism.

Moderator: JONATHAN HAFETZ, Associate Professor, Seton Hall University School of Law

Speakers: James Goodale, Debevoise & Plimpton; Spencer Ackerman, US National Security Editor, The Guardian; Jameel Jaffer, Deputy Legal Director, American Civil Liberties Union; The Hon. Robert D. Sack, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit
