Contemplative Practice for Lawyers: What's in It for Me?
Thursday, September 19, 2013, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
There is no charge for this program.
42 West 44th Street
New York, NY 10036

Lawyers considering engaging in a contemplative practice such as mindfulness may well ask what’s in it for them. They will have heard about stress management, improved focus, positive emotional affect, and more effective listening and communication. Panelists Peter Arcese and Marc Poirier will explore the extent to which we should expect contemplative practice to make us “more”/”better”, and the extent to which it instead opens us to things just as they are, becoming aware of mind and realizing we are enough.

Speakers: PETER V. ARCESE, Co-Chair, ABA Dispute Resolution Section's Mediation Committee; MARC POIRIER, Professor of Law and Martha Traylor Research Scholar, Seton Hall University School of Law; Zen student for more than 30 years
